EL Civics Lesson Plans
- California EL Civics Exchange – The Exchange is a repository created by CASAS, the Outreach and Technical Assistance Network, and the California Department of Education to share original instructional materials for the seven EL Civics competency areas. These materials can be used to teach EL Civics content to English language learners.
- Civics Education – Explore Aspire’s Instructional Resource Collection to find lesson plans, instructional materials, and teaching strategies.
- EL Civics Lesson Plan Collection - These lessons were created by Ohio ESOL instructors but are aligned to the previous set of content standards in 2008. Alignment to the Ohio Aspire ESOL Standards is needed prior to use.
- Teaching Skills that Matter Civics Education – a section of the national TSTM Toolkit that includes an issue brief, a case study, lesson plans, a video on how to teach a Civics Education lesson, and an annotated bibliography. The TSTM Toolkit was developed by adult education experts to support teachers in using approaches that work to help students gain the skills that matter.
